&nbsp; &nbsp; We are FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Team 5012 Gryffingear. Our team consists of 50 students, two teachers, and ten mentors from The Palmdale Aerospace Academy in Palmdale, CA. Our mission is to promote science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) at our school and community. In order to create a magical future for the world, we aim to inspire the next generation of STEM and business leaders.<div>&nbsp;&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp; &nbsp;Last year our team went to the World Championships in St. Louis and among more than 600 competing teams, our alliance won the championship. After this success, we attended&nbsp;the National STEM Advocacy Conference in Washington D.C. &nbsp;in order to support additional funding for after school STEM programs included in the "Every Child Achieves Act" senate bill.&nbsp;<br><div><font face="Nexa-Book, Helvetica, sans-serif"><br></font><div><span style="font-family: Nexa-Book, sans-serif; display: inline !important;">&nbsp; &nbsp; Team 5012 Gryffingear is more than just about us, we have assisted many teams to further their experience and even helped start five new teams including Dementorques, Alloymantulas, Torchbots, Ravenclaw, Manzanita House, and The Boys and Girls Club. With money donated we can help support Robotics programs in the Antelope Valley and engage the community in STEM education.</span>&nbsp;</div><div><div><br></div><div>&nbsp; &nbsp;FRC Team 5012 Gryffingear is a year-round program. When we are not in competition season, we are honing our engineering skills, attending off-season events, hosting workshops, and promoting STEM education through outreach in our community. Robotics is about more than just the robot. This program is about educating the community, inspiring students, and planting the seeds of STEM.</div></div><div><font face="Nexa-Book, Helvetica, sans-serif"><br></font></div><div><div style="font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-size: 16px; line-height: normal;">About FIRST:&nbsp;</div><div style="font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-size: 16px; line-height: normal;">&nbsp; &nbsp;Founded in 1989 by inventor Dean Kamen the program FIRST (For Inspiritation and Recongition of Science and Technology) is purposed<span style="font-family: Verdana, Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 18px; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); display: inline !important;">&nbsp;to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.
