Building Aquaponic Gardens

$195 raised since Jan 9, 2019

Food produced with less water and less land.
Produced in a way that leverages natural ecological relationships.

Aquaponics!

Here at Oceana High School a group of students will be working on learning to design and build Aquaponic Gardens. We also have arranged a tour of Ouroboros Farms, a commercial aquaponic garden in Half Moon Bay. Our goal is to raise enough money to be able to build systems out of reused food-grade 55-gallon barrels, and another out of an old clawfoot bathtub.

Here are links to information about this method of growing food, the farm we plan to visit, and the kind of equipment we will be purchasing:

https://www.theaquaponicsource.com/what-is-aquaponics/

https://www.ouroborosfarms.com/

https://worldwaterreserve.com/aquaponics/bell-siphon-for-aquaponics/

Please help us provide a hands-on experience with a method of agriculture that holds great promise and that teaches about ecology, biology, chemistry, and physics.
